Optima Academy Online Explorations VR Field Trips

VR Field Trips are immersive virtual reality learning experiences that allow students to explore historical events, scientific discoveries, and global destinations using a VR headset. These experiences place students inside 360° environments where they can see and experience educational content in ways that traditional lessons cannot replicate. 

Students travel to incredible locations and moments in history while learning through immersive storytelling and guided exploration. Experiences may include visiting historical landmarks, exploring scientific concepts, or traveling through environments that would otherwise be impossible to visit in person.

Our VR Field Trips are designed primarily for students in grades 3 through 12, though many experiences can be enjoyed by curious learners of various ages depending on the topic and guidance provided.

VR is recommended to have the full experience but can be used with a computer but will limit capabilities. Compatible devices include popular headsets such as Meta Quest models.

If you do not already own a headset, you may be able to purchase one alongside your VR Field Trip subscription.

Subscriptions typically provide 12 months of access to the VR Field Trip library for one student, allowing them to explore multiple experiences throughout the year.

Students receive access to a growing library of 40+ immersive learning experiences across subjects such as history, science, geography, and more. New experiences may be added periodically to expand the learning journey.

Yes. Each experience is designed to make learning engaging and memorable. Virtual reality allows students to learn through immersive environments that increase engagement and deepen understanding.

Yes. Many homeschool families use VR Field Trips as a supplement to their curriculum. These experiences help bring lessons to life by allowing students to explore places and concepts that would normally require travel or specialized resources.

No technical experience is required. The experiences are designed to be simple and user friendly, allowing students to quickly enter and explore each environment. We have an orientation experience which will guide you on how to use controls.
