Optima Academy Online and Florida SouthWestern State College Forge Path to Tuition-Free Dual Enrollment
NAPLES, Fla. – K-12 virtual reality school Optima Academy Online (OAO) announces its partnership with Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) to offer students tuition-free dual enrollment. Hacking the cost of college, students in this program will have the opportunity to graduate from OAO with a high school diploma and college credit, up to an associate degree.
OAO students can start taking college courses in this program at FSW for the Fall 2024 semester. Students will work with an academic advisor to decide the course of study that best prepares them for success in their college and/or career transition. Dual enrollment students will have access to FSW resources including common areas, tutoring centers and academic support.
Eligible students will save at least $6,801.60 on tuition and fees (based on the 60 credit A.A. program) and that doesn’t include additional potential savings on textbooks Credits. FSW will transfer to any four-year university in the state of Florida and most outside of the state.
“Optima Academy Online is proud to partner with Florida SouthWestern State College to offer dual enrollment to our students,” Dan Sturdevant, Head of School at Optima Academy Online said. “Having this pathway will allow students to gain college credits and career certifications at no additional cost.”
Florida SouthWestern State College has more than 3,500 dual enrollment students each year. With a 420-acre campus, the college offers 25 associate degrees, six bachelor’s degrees and 29 career-oriented certificate programs. Along with its Associate in Arts degree, FSW has a focus on workforce programs including early childhood and elementary education, health professions, and business and technology, and it’s accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
To meet eligibility, rising tenth grade students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and at least five completed high school credit hours. In eleventh grade, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and five completed high school credit hours. Students must choose courses at FSW by mid-July and cannot drop courses past the second week of school.
